Two of my best-kept secrets that have been critical to my success, be it 1.4 Lakh ₹ per month job offers or research internships at Cambridge:

I’m at IIT Kanpur, my best friend Shivangi’s alma mater.

I learned more from hearing about her experiences at IITK than from my experiences at Lady Shri Ram.

Shivangi is currently working at Rakuten in Japan as a User Experience Designer. She shifted jobs from a Software Development Engineer to a UXD within 2 months.

Shivangi taught me the importance of exploring and being open-minded.

I was initially hesitant of asking my profs for research projects with them but Shivangi encouraged me to do so.

Another best friend of mine, Divyangi, is a first year at Kamala Nehru College, majoring in Psychology.

However, she doesn't feel that Psych is for her and she'll be shifting to engineering after her second sem ends.

Whenever someone tells me “I don't know which subject/subfield/career I'm interested in”, I always tell them to explore, or F around and find out :)

Most people worry that they'll be “late” if they keep exploring different subjects/sub-fields/careers.

But let me tell you, “late” and “early” are all set by society. There’s no late and no early for you.

You are never too young/too old to do something.

It's never too late or too early.

So go on, explore, learn, fail, grow, and don't forget to skew the norm :)
